There are also various times scheduled for each of them:

  • Specialized tiling courses (which include mosaic or even Victorian tiling).

There certainly is a vast array to choose from.  You need to decide then which one would be suitable for your personal requirements and plans for the future.  Ask yourself:

  • Do I just want to increase my general knowledge to be able to do my own tiling around the house an for relations and friends?
  • Would I like to become a professional tiler as a career?
  • Would I like to open my own tiling business?
  • Do I need advanced tiling courses?
  • Should I do an artistic tiling course or more to assist the family budget or to make a profession out of it?

Once you have made up your mind, the world is your oyster.

If you are planning to open up your own tiling business company:

  • an advanced tiling course might mean that you could even have access to business start-up guidance;

  • learn how to gain an NVQ qualification.

By the time you finish your tiling course, you will have learned (amongst the basics) all about the following – from beginning of the tiling job to completion:

  • Using clay and quarry stone – how to grade it, cut it and use it.
  • Ceramic, mosaic, Victorian and large tiles.
  • Self-leveling, testing and fitting under-tile heating.
  • Fixing and cutting of tiles with experience in leveling and tanking.

Mosaic tiling classes are sometimes of shorter duration, but work on Victorian tiling classes last up to a week.  The designs are made up of intricate geometric patterns and shapes using special Victorian tiles specially manufactured for just this purpose.  Approximately 250 individual pieces are utilized per square metre alone.  The market for qualified Victorian tilers is excellent, this old tiling method having regained its former popularity especially in entrance foyers.

If you are looking for a steady and lucrative way of earning a living, seriously consider going on a certified tiling course.  With this type of skill under your belt, you can travel and work basically anywhere in the world.
